We have made an improvement to our quote and order pricing backend system. From now on, all new quotes that grant a fixed cash discount will automatically generate a unique discount code. The discount will no longer apply separately to each line item but will instead be deducted from the total amount in the shopping cart using a coupon code.
Percentage discounts will remain at the line item level as before – this change does not affect them.
Why is the change being made?
Exact amounts without rounding errors
Line-by-line allocation sometimes caused inaccuracies due to cents. The coupon code eliminates the problem entirely.
Compatibility with enterprise resource planning systems
ERP and cash register systems support coupons by default, allowing the same discount to be transferred seamlessly throughout the entire order chain.
Simplified maintenance and better data security
Campaign and reporting functions will henceforth be built on a single, well-tested coupon logic, reducing errors and speeding up development.
Customer-specific control
The coupon only works on that specific customer’s account. If the content of the order is changed in a prohibited manner, the coupon will automatically become invalid – just as the old model's offer would have expired.
Note. This change only applies to new quotes starting from April 26, 2025. Previous quotes will remain unchanged.
