
Turvakauppa.com is a Finnish online store specializing in high-quality safety products for businesses, construction sites, and public spaces. The rapidly growing product range and the unique needs of B2B customers imposed high demands on the usability, efficiency, and integration of systems for the online store. With growth, it was important to ensure that purchasing is easy, information is up-to-date, and customer-specific pricing and delivery methods function seamlessly – without manual work. To meet this demand, a new, modern B2B online store was built based on the AI Commerce platform.
Challenges
The previous Magento 2 online store of Turvakauppa.com suffered from technical debt, which caused several bottlenecks hindering growth both in technical functionality and customer experience:
Outdated and manual-process-requiring ERP integrations hindered the achievement of the desired level of automation.
Product information was located distributed across different systems, making maintenance slow and vulnerable to errors.
The system performance was weak, and the addition of new features further weakened it.

Turvakauppa.com transitioned to an AI Commerce e-commerce platform, which enabled the construction of a modern, customer-specific B2B online store. The project addressed Magento's technical debt and built a scalable and integrable whole based on Composable architecture:
The configuration and integration work accumulated over 10 years of the Magento 2 webshop was transferred to AI Commerce in just a month.
Comprehensive reform in 2.5 months – including the design of a new user interface and the implementation of a PIM system.
All systems (e-commerce, PIM, ERP) were seamlessly integrated with each other, enabling real-time data transfer.
The decentralized product information was centralized in the Akeneo PIM system.
Headless architecture separates the user interface and backend systems, making further development agile.

Purchasing experience and sales support B2B operations
On the Magento 2 platform, many critical B2B functionalities were notably absent, and their implementation would have required disproportionately much time and development costs. In the redesign, these functions were planned from the ground up to support the needs of B2B customers and sellers:
Intelligent request for proposal functionalities: Previously, manual proposal processes took several hours, and customers had to use several different channels to submit a request for proposal. Now, intelligent request for proposal functionalities allow requests to be made directly through the online store, and sellers can create and send proposals digitally within the same system. Proposals are automatically transferred to the ERP system, eliminating manual work and ensuring that information is up-to-date across all systems. The process is fast, smooth, and fully manageable online.
Customizable checkout: Customer-specific payment methods and delivery options can be configured directly in the checkout view, making ordering as smooth as possible – especially for contract customers and large orders. Clear, predefined options reduce the risk of erroneous purchases and speed up the purchasing process.
Estimated delivery time visible per product: Reduces the need for contact and helps the customer make an independent purchasing decision.
Product variant-specific pricing: The price of a product is determined based on the choices made by the customer – for example, the selected material, reflection class, or sizing automatically affects the visible price. This reduces incorrectly priced orders and improves the purchasing experience, especially for technical products.
Extensive filters and attribute groups: Accelerate the discovery of products based on technical search criteria, especially in large assortments.
Intelligent bundle functions: Preselected product bundles facilitate the purchase of the right combinations and speed up the ordering process – at the same time, the risk of incorrect combinations decreases.
New mobile-first interface: The entire interface was designed with mobile usability in mind, making it easy to place orders anywhere and anytime – even in fieldwork or while on the go.

Development of performance in numbers
The page load time (Largest Contentful Paint) decreased from 29.9 seconds to 1.5 seconds, which corresponds to an improvement of over 85%. Other key metrics, such as First Contentful Paint and Total Blocking Time, also improved by over 70%, making the user experience significantly better.
